Game Rules

1. Game Conditions

1. Even game. Black gives a komi of 6.5 points.

2. Time Limit

1. Each player has 30 minutes. Time is measured by the server in units no greater than 10 milliseconds.
2. If a replay is required, the time limit may be shortened to 20, 15, or 10 minutes. The referee or Tournament Director decides.

3. Game Rules, Stopping a Game, and Determining the Result

1. Games follow the Japanese Rules of Go, except for the provisions below.
2. A game is stopped in any of these situations:
   1. Illegal move: the side committing the violation loses, provided it is identified before the result form is submitted.
   2. Time expiration: the side whose time expires loses.
   3. Move 400 completed: passes count as moves; the referee evaluates the position and declares a win, loss, or draw.
   4. Resignation: a program sending “resign” loses.
   5. Two consecutive passes: both programs should display dead stones and calculate territory where possible. If their judgments agree, that result is adopted. If they agree only on the winner, that result is adopted. Otherwise, the referee decides based on life-and-death judgments, territory, and positional evaluation. If the position is even or cannot be evaluated, the game is a draw.
   6. Position repetition: in a situation such as triple ko under Article 12 of the Japanese Rules of Go, the referee confirms the repetition and declares a draw.

4. Measures When Normal Game Progress Becomes Impossible

Participants must immediately request a referee ruling. If the cause lies with the organizer or is an unforeseen accident, the referee determines whether the result is a win, loss, draw, resumption, or replay. Time limits for a resumed or replayed game are set from the remaining times.

5. Other Rules

1. Participants must not touch computer input devices during a game unless authorized. Unauthorized input may result in a loss.
2. Misconduct results in disqualification and removal from the standings. Misconduct discovered after the event may also invalidate the result, and more serious sanctions may apply.
3. For situations not covered here, the referee or Tournament Director rules. The Tournament Director's decision is final.

6. Submission and Finalization of Game Results

1. Results are finalized from the game-result form submitted after the game. Both players must submit it promptly. If it is not submitted, the referee may verify the result.
